Letter 99- W.L. North translation. With introduction and bibliography. Khan Boris of Bulgaria was considering Christianity (his sister had already converted), but was trying to distance himself from the patriarch of Constantinople. He sent a representative to Rome. This letter is Pope St. Nicholas's response, written in 866.
