St. Benedict of San Philadelphio- Also known as Benedict the Moor. Born in Italy to Christian slaves from Ethiopia, St. Benedict joined an association of hermits, and when that was dissolved, became a Franciscan Recollect. Biography in the Catholic Encyclopedia.
